Whitesnake'due south "Hither I Get Again" 1987 version, synths?

I was perusing Youtube when I came across this archetype. While reading the comments, come up to acquire that Tawny Kitaen passed abroad just a few days ago, RIP... but the reason I clicked the video was to attempt to solve a long standing mystery of mine, what synth(s) were used for the haunting sound during the intro part of this song.

The video shows 3 synths being played simply they're just dark silhouetted monoliths, no style to ID them, and there's no guarantee they are what was used anyhow. There may be some DX7 in at that place making the bell-like bits, but I'1000 curious about the primary function, which sounds digital. It doesn't sound like a D-50, but maybe information technology was a PPG or Emulator II or something? Anyone know?

I asked Bill Cuomo on his fb folio and he said it was a mix of the Sequential Prophet VS (vocal pad), the Roland JX-3P (for the bell sounds) and a Kurzweil K250 (for the piano bits).

Don Airey is also credited on the rail, so I believe in that location's still a few other synths on the track nosotros're unaware of. The intro sounds like information technology had some sort of mono synth on information technology likewise (listening to drain on the song acapella) which must have came before Cuomo laid downwardly the famous Prophet VS intro we know today. Preset 11 gets your 90% at that place...

Indeed, it was one of my favorite patches on the VS when I got one at the beginning of 1987. And then I started hearing it on various songs in the months to follow. Blitz's "Strength Ten", The Outfield'due south "No Surrender", Bette Midler'south "Wind Below My Wings", etc. I've been putting that sound into stuff I've recorded here and in that location for the last three decades - I guess I take a sentimental attachment to it.

Btw, you can find good multi-sampled versions of that patch in Omnisphere, and too the Vector X sample library for Kontakt.

Arturia'due south Prophet V3 plugin includes the
Prophet 5 and the Prophet VS. The P5
emulation sounds ok, the VS emulation
sounds fantastic.

Just read the lyrics online. Story of my life. Le sigh.

Though I continue searching for an respond
I never seem to notice what I'm looking for...

Well, I did get the answer to what synth made that audio!!

Similar a drifter I was built-in to walk lonely.

Nonetheless prefer the John Lord version ... cut my keyboard teeth listening to that guy ...

New from John Sykes, offset in a while.
