One Ok Stone (Japanese: ワンオクロック, Hepburn: Wan Oku Rokku ) (stylized in all caps as Ane OK ROCK) is a Japanese rock band, formed in Tokyo, Japan in 2005. The ring currently consists of vocaliser Takahiro Moriuchi, guitarist and bandleader Toru Yamashita, bassist Ryota Kohama, and drummer Tomoya Kanki. They play varied styles of music, with songs ranging from culling stone and emo to post-hardcore and pop rock.[13] [14]

2005–2006: Formation and before days [edit]

The foundation for One Ok Rock began on July 29, 2005 when Toru Yamashita, and then a loftier schoolhouse pupil, wanted to offset a ring. He told his friend Ryota Kohama, a young man member of the hip-hop dance group Heads, to learn the bass and asked Alexander Onizawa, who was their senior in school to join. He asked his classmate, Yu Koyanagi, to play drums. At that time, Takahiro Moriuchi was playing with another band, but Yamashita insisted that he join Ane Ok Rock instead. Subsequently signing with Amuse, Inc. Koyanagi left the band to pursue an acting career. Tomoya Kanki was a student at the ESP (Musical Academy) and was already in a ring that wasn't going well. He then joined One Ok Rock in 2006, and became an official member when they debuted in 2007.[xv] [26]

2007–2009: Early releases and departure of Onizawa [edit]

The Japanese version of the anthology was released on Jan 11, 2017, with A-Sketch. The English version of the anthology was released on January 13, 2017, with Fueled by Ramen. Ambitions features collaborations from Avril Lavigne on the Japanese version of the album, Alex Gaskarth from All Time Depression on the English version of the anthology, and the Australian band v Seconds of Summer on both.[112] [113] Culling Press declared the collaboration song "Jaded" (with Alex Gaskarth) as the best collaboration song of 2017.[114]

On November 13, 2016, NHK (Nippon Hōsō Kyōkai, a Japan Broadcasting Corporation) held ONE OK Stone 18 Festival (xviii FES) where 1 Ok Rock and 1,000 youths (17 – xix years old from the whole country) sang together on one stage.[115]
